Project aims

The aim of the International Project on Childhood Contributory Negligence is to make a positive contribution to the analysis and development of this area of law by undertaking and promoting research-led activities which:

  • bring together international researchers from all relevant disciplines, policy makers, practitioners and others with an interest in this area
  • examine and compare State approaches towards childhood contributory negligence, sharing and advancing knowledge
  • consider how scientific research about childhood and child development might inform legal decision-making in such cases
  • explore ways in which the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child can be appropriately integrated into legal reasoning.
